Signature generator
draw it, type it or upload it

Make a signature you can drop into a Word document, a PDF or an email footer. Draw it with your mouse, trackpad or finger, type your name and pick a handwriting style, or upload a photo of your signature and let the paper clear itself. Download it as a transparent PNG.

No account. No watermark. No email address.

Draw slowly for a thicker line and quickly for a thinner one, the way a real pen behaves. Stylize smooths the strokes and tapers the ends. The download is a transparent PNG, cropped to your signature.

How to create your signature

Draw it, type it, or upload it

Drawing gives you your real signature and looks like you — pick a pen thickness, and use Stylize to smooth the strokes and taper the ends. Typing is faster and more legible, useful when the signature is going into an email footer or a form rather than onto a contract. Uploading takes a photo or scan of a signature you already have and clears the paper away, keeping only the ink. All three produce the same kind of file.

Pick your ink

Black reads as default and scans cleanly. Blue is the traditional cue that a signature is original rather than a photocopy, which some organisations still expect on scanned paperwork.

Download the PNG

The file has a transparent background and is cropped tight to the ink, so it sits over existing text without a white box around it. Drop it into Word with Insert → Pictures, into a PDF with any editor, or into your email signature block.

What this image can and cannot do

A signature image is a picture. It proves nothing on its own. Nothing records who placed it, when, from where, or whether the document was altered afterwards — and anyone who receives the file can copy the image straight out of it and into another document.

For low-stakes paperwork that is completely fine, and it is what most people searching for a signature generator actually need. For anything you might one day have to defend — a contract, an NDA, an offer letter, a lease — what matters is not the mark but the evidence around it: a record of the signer, their consent, the time, and a cryptographic seal proving the document has not changed since.

That is a different job, and it is the one Signatura does. Use the image above for the first kind of document; send the second kind for signature instead.

Common questions

Is this signature generator really free?

Yes. There is no account, no email address, no watermark and no usage limit. The tool runs entirely in your browser — your signature is never uploaded to a server, because it never leaves your device.

How do I create a digital signature?

For an image of your signature, draw or type it above, or upload a photo, and download the PNG. Note that "digital signature" also has a stricter technical meaning: a cryptographic signature made with a certificate and a key pair, which proves the document has not been altered. An image cannot do that. If you need the strict kind, you need signing software rather than a generator.

Is a signature made here legally binding?

The mark itself can be. Under the US ESIGN Act and UETA, and under eIDAS in the EU, an electronic signature is not invalid merely because it is electronic. But enforceability turns on evidence of intent and identity, and a downloaded image carries none. Pasting this PNG into a contract is legally weaker than sending that contract for signature through a platform that records who signed and seals the result.

How do I add the signature to a Word document?

In Word, go to Insert → Pictures → This Device and choose the PNG. Then set Wrap Text to "In Front of Text" so you can position it freely over the signature line. Because the background is transparent, it will sit on top of the line rather than covering it with a white rectangle.

Can I use it in a PDF?

Yes. Any PDF editor that supports adding an image will place a transparent PNG. If you are signing PDFs regularly, sending the document for signature is faster than editing each one by hand, and it produces an audit trail.

Where is my signature stored?

Nowhere. Everything happens in your browser — the drawing, the background removal, the rendering and the download. Nothing is transmitted to Signatura, and closing the tab discards it. Keep the downloaded file somewhere you would keep any sensitive document.

What size and format is the download?

A transparent PNG, rendered at three times display resolution so it stays sharp when scaled, and cropped tightly to the ink with a small margin. That keeps it crisp when printed or placed into a high-resolution document.

What is the difference between this and signing with Signatura?

This makes a picture of a signature. Signatura sends a document to the people who need to sign it, records who signed and when, and seals the finished file with a SHA-256 hash so any later change is detectable. One is an image; the other is evidence.

Can I upload a photo of my signature?

Yes. Sign on plain paper, photograph or scan it, and choose Upload. The tool finds the ink, removes the paper — including the uneven lighting and shadows of a phone photo — and gives you a transparent PNG cropped to the signature. It works best with dark ink on light paper. Like everything else here, the image is processed in your browser and is never sent to a server.

Need the other person to sign too?

Upload the document, place the fields, and send it. They sign in a browser — no account, no app. You get a sealed audit trail.
